Well, tried a few HL1s, when I try to start it up, it says it needs a minimum of 16MB of RAM to work, doesn't see my 6GB at all, so if I want to try this I'll have to somehow buy the Steam version, or wait until the devs smarten up and make it a standalone game.

Does me no good, I don't have -- and never had -- a credit card.

Also, what version of HL1 do you need?

Well, now to find a copy, because I don't have HL1 or 2 for that matter. Are there any plans to eventually make this a standalone game?

I just came across this, from an old posting on a forum, do you still need HL1 to play it; sorry if this has been asked before, but there was no mention of it in the FAQ, etc..?!
