Elementals

Elementals are a variety of magical construct that are forged from the most primal components of alchemical nature. Some are summoned for a specific task, but as they grow older, they grow more powerful. The eldest eventually outlive their masters, or become too powerful to control. Elementals consist of nothing but their own element held together by a complex weave of vaguely intelligent magic and thus they are immune to poison attacks. Like all such otherworldly beings, they are subject to attacks by Divine magic and weapons thus enchanted.

  • Fire Elementals - Have various fire attacks. Their opposing element is Ice.
  • Earth Elementals - Have various bludgeoning attacks. Their opposing element is Air.
  • Ice Elementals - Have various frost attacks. Their opposing element is Fire.
  • Air Elementals - Have various lightning attacks. Their opposing element is Earth.


In addition, there are two other varieties of the above "lesser" elementals:

  • Greater Elementals - Greater elementals are slightly larger than normal elementals and have a more devastating attacks. They are immune to their opposing element, in addition to their own.
  • Elder Elementals - Elder elementals are much larger, can summon lesser variants of themselves, and are immune to all elemental based magic attacks, and actually healed by applications of their own element.


Elementals of various types will work together, and as such, variations are often gathered together for greater potency. Once an elemental is set to a task, it will generally keep to it for eternity, until destroyed. Thus, elementals are often found guarding areas so ancient there is no longer any sign of the object of their protection. Some are even believed to date back to the Loreldian Wars of Fate.
